Amazing shoes. Perfect balance of ground feel and comfort

In my opinion I think all the models run just a smidge long, but not by a lot. I’m typically a US 13.5-14 / EU 48 depending on brand, but my toes sometimes need the width of a 15 and most brands don’t carry 13.5. I don’t like tripping over my shoes though, so I constantly live in a state of conundrum. Their 13s are 30.7 cm long and the 14s are 31.5. I probably needed a 31cm for a perfect fit. But alas, moving on to the problem I have most with the Michi’s:

Full disclaimer: I exclusively wear wide toe box shoes, and almost all of them zero drop, but I’m not a fan of paper thin outsoles. We’re on concrete or rocks for the vast majority of our time outside, so something thicker than a few mm is necessary for optimum foot health and joint safety. That being said, the Michi’s are WAYY too soft. They are by far the squishiest zero drop/wide toe box shoes I’ve ever worn, comparable or worse to most Altras, DO NOT USE THEM AS TRAINERS as advertised. And running I wouldn’t recommend either because if you do ANY plyometrics you risk rupturing your achilles. Maybe if you’re a small lightweight individual it won’t be so bad, but the foam squishes excessively even just standing still if you’re a tall person. I’m not overweight, but I’m over 6ft with a little muscle. I’d say average size of a fit person my height. I’m very confused by there not being more reviews stating how excessively squishy they are.

Get the Koto, it’s plenty soft enough to go road running in, but not so soft you’ll easily roll your ankle or rupture your achilles, like with the Michi’s. The Koto, despite running a smidge long, is definitely the better shoe by a landslide. I give it 5 stars, just wish they made it in a 13.5.

The only shoes I've ever worn that don't kill my feet after a couple of minutes. I love how they look, both my personal trainer and physical therapist complimented them, and I honestly can't see a reason to ever go with another shoe for the day to day.

Extremely light. The image looks exactly like the shoe. Comfort is truly incredible. The mesh is breathable, and the rubber molding over the toe is key, providing structure and stability. The heel is high enough. Coming from TOPO ST-5, these are much better, as they do not have heel slippage. The feel around the midfoot is extremely soft. The rubbing. The laces are also elastic, which is a nice touch. The sole has almost a rice, smooth pebbly feel. It is hard to describe, but it feels soothing and provides tremendous groundfeel. The cushioning is there and is just the right amount. Will wear these for gym days and capoeira. Thank you

I love the way the Michi 1 shoes feel. Took my time breaking my legs in and finally went on a long walk yesterday. Came home and bought a pair of Yama.

My feet are very fussy and prone to plantar fasciitis flares. I'm finding these shoes to be very comfortable! They're flexible and light, not too cushioned and there isn't anything uncomfortable pressing into my arches. If you're looking for shoes with arch support these aren't for you, but for those seeking a more natural barefoot feel with just enough padding to prevent irritation these are great. They have just enough padding that my feet and lower legs can tolerate them when I walk around. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Lightest and fastest shoes i’ve tried in over 10 years. They remind me of the og altras before they went to crap. Not a whole lot of cushion, but most natural foot strike you can get.

The soles are too thick and soft. It says there's a zero drop, but your heels sink into the soft bottom sole which then makes it just as if it had a dropped heel. The wide toe box is really nice - And the color.

Received my shoes a couple days ago. I couldn’t believe how lite they are. So far I have enjoyed wearing them.

The best foot friendly shoes that I have found for urban walking. More comfortable on hard surfaces than Xero and a toe box that fits my foot better than Vivo or Lems. The outside of my foot does not feel pinched. Grateful to have found them.

I'm very happy with these shoes as my daily driver. I've been struggling with left foot high arch nerve pain and cramping even with custom orthotics in many well known brand athletics shoes. I switched to these shoes and that has resolved the pain issues for me. My feet are in heaven and the shoes are very stylish too! Sizing was accurate to my experience with other shoes, these didn't run large or small compared to what Im used to buying in other brands.

I have had them for about a week or so but in that time I have worked out in them multiple times and taken them for a run. I workout with kettlebells and have found they provide a firm base to work from, but with a ton of space for the toes. I don't have the widest feet, but do encounter some pain if the shoe is slim and I definitely do not have that problem with these. They tick all the boxes for me: wide toe box (I find them to be very wide, much more so than like Flux, for example) but still have cushion that kept my feet feeling fresh and comfortable on a 2+ mile run. Overall, they have been a good choice for my athletic shoe needs. Would love a grey/gum sole colorway.

I like the styling of the shoe, not too many wide toe box options, that are good looking.
I like that it has cushion, but still minimal.
Someone else noted that it feels like the Altra Solstice and I agree,(except maybe more spacious in width, and softer in cushion).
Runs true to size, maybe a little on the big side (lengthwise).
Since it is a generous width, I feel that I have to tie the laces tighter than I would like. The tongue is not padded, so you notice them.
I feel like one of the main goals they were going for with this shoe was to make it as light as possible (which is a success), but because of that it lacks in tongue comfort, and lateral support/structure.
If you have a wider foot (or high arches), you might not have the same issue.
Overall good shoe, I just feel like those little things can improve the comfort. Sure it would add some weight, but I'm sure the average buyer is not looking for the lightest shoe around.
Just got them so cant speak to durability.

You guys are spot on with your mind-set, marketing, and product.

As an avid long distance runner since the mid 90s, I've tried way too many shoes out there on the market that were just "lacking" in so many ways. Then Altra and Hoka came to life, and we all thought that the running world finally struck gold, but that proved to be false over the past quite a few years. Don't get me wrong, there's some decent shoes out there, but with what I've experienced over my many years of running many, many miles, nothing out there stacks up to the Yama and Michi. These two shoes are everything I need for pounding the pavement and hitting the trails.

Keep up the great work, and please... please... please... DON'T CHANGE to stay competitive with the rest of the world. There's plenty of us out here who prefer your "style", NOT the others, to help keep Notace at the top.

So far so good. I attempted to wear barefoot shoes several years ago but unfortunately did myself a disservice by buying low cost, cheaper brand shoes. Within two or three days my Achilles was quite sore. These shoes I've been able to seamlessly start wearing them, although not for long periods of time. But they definitely are comfortable as I acquiesce to them.

Style is cool and the fit is really good, but when you pay $165 for shoes you dont expect them to be made of styrofoam. Im very skeptical about how these shoes will hold up to workouts and daily life use. I wish the stack height was just a little less. I think the 15mm reduces the groun feedback a little too much for my liking. I was very excited about this shoe and considered buying more, but i think im gonna pass after seeing the product. Not a bad shoe, just still not that perfect blend between barefoot and comfort. Id like to see a 10mm stack height shoe with similar features and something more durable feeling

I think the shoes fit great and extremely light. Remind me of the Altra Soltice XT, but a lot more breathable. I hope Notace releases more colorways.
